Light Lottery Schedule starts Mon Nov 2 U6, U8 Field 12 U10 Field 7 U12, U14, U16 Field 6 The Light Lottery is a way of drawing practice times for teams to be able to practice under lights on a field. Each year when daylight savings ends it is very difficult for teams to practice at their normal times and location. Due to the lack of lighted fields and the lack of space we need to manage the field space in order to keep teams practicing in a safe atmosphere. How are the times selected? On a predetermined evening before Daylight savings ends we will have a meeting. At this meeting a lottery will be held to determine the order in which coaches will select their practice time and field. Teams will draw to determine th order of space selection. How much time does each team get? Each team will be able to select a 30 minute block that will allow them to practice on a field with lights. Each field will be divided into 3 sections. Those sections will be the areas that the coaches may select for thier practice time. Note: The time that a coach normally practices often times is not the one that is available when the coaches turn is up to select the time. Why only 30 minutes? You have 30 minutes ON THE FIELD. You are still able to practice/warm up in the areas surrounding the fields. Space will be a premium and SHARED by all. Coaches are encouraged to do small drills that can be done without a goal. Can more than one slot be selected? After all the teams that attend select their first round, coaches may draw for a second time slot. What if the coach cannot attend? If the coach is unable to attend the meeting then a representative will need to attend. This meeting has been published since July so all coaches should know about it. What if the coach did not attend? If a coach did not attend and needs a time under the lights, Chris Cleary needs to be contacted. If a time is available on the schedule posted there MAY be an opening. Chris has to confirm before a team will have permission. Mike can be reached at ccleary@yahoo.com Are there other places a team can practice? AYSO 114 only has permits for Heartwell fields 6, 7 and 12, under lights. If you see another field in the Long Beach or Lakewood area, we are not permit holders. You will most likely be asked to vacate the field due to not having the proper pemits. If you are asked to leave be sure you repectfully vacate. If the person is being rude, please get thier name and let us know. DO NOT become discourteous to our neighbors, we are all here to keep the youth of our area active and safe.
